"Ultimate
Collectors"
Television Series

Angelo Del Monte, Chip Miller, and Rob Bender

Corvette lovers are in for a rare treat this fall in of all places but on the Home & Garden Channel. Carlisle Productions co-owner Chip Miller opened his impressive garage to the cameras, as he will be one of the first personalities to be featured on a brand new series soon to hit the national airwaves.

Ultimate Collectors is a new show for HGTV and is all about one of our most common urges: the need to collect stuff. Premiering this October, the show will explore a wide range of collectors and their collections. Glass/Difede Productions of Bala Cynwood, PA is travelling around the country talking to special collectors. Producer Rob Bender was recently in the Harrisburg area shooting several segments for the program with local videographer/Director of Photography Angelo Del Monte of Olegna Productions.

One segment of the half-hour programs will feature Carlisle's Chip Miller, who definitely fits the definition of an "Ultimate Collector." His collection of 25-mint condition Corvettes spans the history of America's first sports car. Bender says, "Chip is one of a kind. He's intense, dedicated, knowledgeable, articulate, and he has an amazing collection of Corvettes."

Chip gave Bender and Del Monte full access to his collection, which is something he just doesn't have the time to do as often as he would like. Chip told the crew, which included Dan Shaffer on audio, some background stories on the cars and what they mean to him. Bender even got Chip to put a couple of miles on his 1953 Corvette, which is believed to be the lowest mileage unrestored original '53 Corvette surviving. Besides the other impressive low mileage milestone cars (Chip's favorite to collect) that will be featured in the segment, Chip took one of his Corvette Challenge cars out for a spin.

"Racing around the track with Chip in his 1989 Challenge Car was fantastic and we got some great shots! Chip and his collection are perfect for the show." Bender continues, "And of course, Angelo was the perfect cameraman for this because of his experience shooting Corvette videos."

In fact it was Angelo who suggested to Rob that Chip would be a good subject for the show. Olegna was also able to provide Bender with footage from their Corvettes at Carlisle video series that shows Chip surprising his wife with a 35th Anniversary Corvette from the 2001 Corvettes at Carlisle event and other footage from the extensive archive of Corvette and Carlisle related video that Olegna Productions has on file.

"The Ultimate Collector show is as much about the collector as it is the collection," says Bender, "These cars mean a lot to him and he loves to share them with others. I'm delighted that we were able to visit Chip and capture his excitement about the cars."

So keep your eye on your local TV programming guide for a unique look at a very impressive collection of Corvettes and a chance to hear Chip Miller tell you all about it.
